2012 Sherwood High School Summer School Registration

This year, Sherwood High School will offer Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Health and OdysseyWare Credit Recovery during Summer School. Summer School will be held Monday through Thursdays, from July 2nd through July 26 (except July 4th). Courses will be offered in two sessions. Session 1 will run from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, and Session 2 will run from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm. Students may register for one or two sessions. Courses: Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B: This class, taught by a certified math instructor, allows students to recover .5 credit in either Algebra 1A or Algebra 1B. Students needing a full credit in Algebra may enroll in both sessions. This course is taught in a traditional model, with teacher instruction taking place in one of the Sherwood High School classrooms. Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B: This class, taught by a certified math instructor, allows students to recover .5 credit in either Algebra 2A or Algebra 2B. Students needing a full credit in Algebra 2 may enroll in both sessions. This course will utilize a hybrid format, incorporating both in-classroom instruction as well as an on-line component. Health A and Health B: This class, taught by a certified health instructor, allows student to recover .5 credit in either Health A or Health B. It also allows students to clear these required courses from their schedule in the future to make more room for other courses. Students wishing to take both sections may enroll in both sessions. This course will utilize a hybrid format, incorporating both in-classroom instruction as well as an on-line component. OddyseyWare Credit Recovery: Earn High School Credit for English, Math, Social Studies and/or Science classes that students have already taken but did not pass. This curriculum allows students to take a pre-test to see what they already know, presents specific lessons that students will need in order to pass, and then gives a test at the end to assess learning. Credit advancement is also available; however, priority will be given to students needing to recover credits in order to graduate. Students have the opportunity to earn as many credits as possible during the four weeks of summer school. It is not necessary to enroll in both sessions of OdysseyWare. Cost: The cost of Summer School is $125.00 per session. Students wishing to enroll in both sessions will pay $250.00. Payments can be made at the Sherwood High School Bookkeeper's Office, or online at http://sherwood.revtrak.net/tek9.asp. Need-based financial assistance is available to those that qualify. To inquire, please contact Brian Bailey, Associate Principal, at 503-825-5504.
