The Sherwood School District is pleased to announce that Mr. Adam Mitchell has been selected as the new Interim Principal at Sherwood High School for the 2021-22 school year, effective immediately.  This position fills the vacancy left by Mrs. Melissa Baran, who will be joining the Tigard-Tualatin School District as the Associate Director of Teaching and Learning. 

Mr. Mitchell first came to the Sherwood School District in 2009, and in his time with our district he has served as a math teacher, a Dean of Students, and Associate Principal at both Laurel Ridge Middle School and Sherwood High School. Prior to joining the SSD team, Mr. Mitchell also taught math in the Tigard-Tualatin School District, as well as in Reno, NV and Singapore. He attended Oregon State University for his Bachelors of Science in Speech  Communications, Pacific University for his Masters in Teaching, and George Fox University for his administrative licensure. Mr. Mitchell is also a resident of Sherwood, living here with his wife Amy and their two children.

In addition, I am excited to be able to work with Sherwood High School students, staff, and families in this new role to continue the excellence that has always been at the core of the school and the district, as well as constantly striving to improve our system to be more inclusive and welcoming for everyone.”

“In Mr. Mitchell’s six years as an administrator in the Sherwood School District, he has demonstrated a strong focus on collaboration with staff and other administrators, a willingness to go above and beyond to support student learning, and a passion for building strong relationships with students, staff, and families,” shared Superintendent Heather Cordie. “I am grateful to Mr. Mitchell for his willingness to step into the position of Interim Principal, which will provide our district with the time and flexibility needed to thoughtfully tend to a hiring process involving stakeholders to select the next Principal of Sherwood High School during this school year”
