Transfers for the 2025 – 2026 School Year

Inter-District Transfers INTO Sherwood:

At this time (July 2025), openings remain available for student transfers into Sherwood School District at all grade levels. Please contact your residential district to request a release before applying, as acceptance into Sherwood School District is contingent upon obtaining an approved release.

In March 2025 the Sherwood School Board will allow the transfer of 170 non-resident students into the Sherwood School District for the 2025-2026 school year. Students are admitted through graduation, provided they meet the attendance and behavior requirements of our Inter-District Transfer Agreement.  Transportation will not be provided for students admitted under this Board action.

The slots are allocated as noted below: 

Sherwood High School

  • 20 slots at 9th grade
  • 10 Slots at 10th grade
  • 10 Slots at 11th Grade
  • 10 Slots at 12th Grade

Sherwood Middle School

  • 20 slots at 6th grade
  • 10 slots at 7th grade
  • 10 slots at 8th grade

Elementary School ONLY * Students will be assigned a school in August 2025 based on capacity.

  • 30 slots at Kindergarten
  • 10 slots at 1st grade
  • 10 slots at 2nd grade
  • 10 slots at 3rd grade
  • 10 slots at 4th grade
  • 10 slots at 5th grade

Lottery Process

  • The application window will be open until 4:00 pm on April 30th; If a grade level receives more applications than slots allotted during the application period, we will have a lottery for that grade level.
  • If slots are still available after the application period ends, the application window will remain open until the slots are filled and all applications will be approved in the order received.
  • The website will be updated when the grade level slots are no longer available.

Application Process

  • Complete the Request for Inter-District Nonresident Student Admission Application Transfer form. (To request a paper copy of the form, please email cmower@sherwood.k12.or.us)
  • Contact your residential school district to apply for a release. A release is required even if your student has never attended that district. Our acceptance depends on receiving this release.
  • Applicants will be notified via email as their application is reviewed and processed.

Inter-District Transfers OUT of Sherwood:

In March 2025, the Sherwood School Board approved release for 10 students transferring out of Sherwood School District for the 2025–2026 school year. The application window will open on March 11, 2025, and close at 4:00 PM on April 30, 2025. Applications received will be reviewed after the window closes. Slots will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and will remain available until all are filled.

As of April 2025, all 10 board-approved student release transfers out of the Sherwood School District for the 2025–2026 school year were granted. We are currently accepting transfer applications only on a hardship basis, in accordance with criteria established by the Oregon Department of Education.

Application Process

  • Complete the Request for Inter-District Resident Student Release Application form. (For a paper copy, please email cmower@sherwood.k12.or.us.)
  • You must contact the district you wish to attend. Our release is contingent upon your acceptance by the new district.
  • Applicants will receive email notifications as their application is processed.

In-District Transfers between Sherwood Elementary Schools:

The Sherwood School District will accept in-district (between Sherwood District Elementary Schools) transfer requests for the 2025–2026 school year only for extenuating, critical, and highly unusual circumstances affecting individual students. Each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that we will begin responding to these requests starting August 2025, and approval will require an annual reapplication.
