UPDATE: New Closure Order from Governor Kate Brown

By

March 17, 2020 (7:50pm) – Earlier this evening, Governor Kate Brown issued new orders extending the statewide closure of schools through Tuesday, April 28, 2020. The impact of this development is something we will be working hard to determine and address in the days ahead, and we will continue to share information with you as quickly as we have it.  What we do know right now is:

  • All regular employees will continue to be paid through the closure according to their contracts.

  • We will continue to provide learning supports and supplemental services to students and families during the closure period, including the continuation of nutrition services and child care for those in need.

  • Employees of the District may be called upon to deliver learning and support services during the closure period.

  • Our task force is continuing their work to develop remote learning options to serve the needs of our students and families. We are also exploring options to ensure that all students K-12 have equitable access to learning devices and internet access.

There are many unanswered questions as we continue to navigate this ongoing and changing situation; please know we are committed to working towards the answers that will best serve the needs of our students.  We appreciate your patience as we continue this work; please stay tuned for additional updates.

We are so grateful for the kindness and generosity we have seen arise in our community in response to these unprecedented circumstances. Please take care of yourselves, your families, and those around you in the days and weeks ahead.
