District Announces New Associate Principal/Interim Associate Principal at Sherwood High School

By

The Sherwood School District is pleased to announce that, effective immediately, Caitlin Everett has been selected as the new Associate Principal at Sherwood High School, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Scott Hadden, and Teresa Swake has been selected as a one-year Interim Associate Principal, filling the vacancy created by Adam Mitchell’s acceptance of the position of Interim Principal for the 2021-22 school year.

Ms. Everett completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Oregon before obtaining her administrative licensure from Portland State University. She taught for ten years in the Beaverton School District at both the middle and high school levels, teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biomedical courses. Additionally, she served in the Beaverton district as a science and STEM TOSA for eight years, working on curriculum adoptions, professional development, STEM programming, and oversight of the science fair. Ms. Everett’s background in staff training continued in her work with the Portland Metro STEM Partnership, serving for two years as their professional development coordinator.

“I am honored and thrilled to join the Sherwood high school team,” shared Ms. Everett. “The educational opportunities and programs SHS has built to serve its students are truly incredible, and I look forward to bringing my expertise and passion for serving all students to the Sherwood community.”

Ms. Swake first came to the Sherwood School District in 2008, and in her time with the district she has served as a math teacher, advanced programs coordinator, and Career & College Center TOSA. Prior to joining the SSD team, Ms. Swake also taught math in the Winston-Dillard School District and through Umpqua Community College. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mathematics in addition to a Master’s in Teaching.  After teaching at the secondary level for many years, she returned to University of Oregon to earn her administrative licensure.

“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve Sherwood High School students, staff and families in this capacity,” noted Ms. Swake. “After many years in this district I am still humbled by the dedication and integrity of the SHS staff and students in preparing students for the next phase of their education and lives.  The engagement of families and community in our high school is above and beyond anything I have experienced in any other district.  The District’s and community’s dedication to providing our students the best educational experience is the reason Sherwood will remain my professional home.”

Interim Principal Adam Mitchell shared “We are so excited to welcome Caitlyn and Teresa to our high school team. Both of these exceptional educators bring a wealth of experience into their new roles. In particular, Caitlyn’s extensive background in curriculum, instruction, and professional development, and Teresa’s prior relationships with the Sherwood High School community, as well as her work with developing rigorous pathways of learning for all of our students, will be invaluable for the high school and our school district. We are eager to work with, and learn from, both of them as we move into this upcoming school year.”
