Current forecasts show a high potential for winter storm weather to impact our area starting on the afternoon of Friday, January 12. With safety always being a priority, we want to ensure the safest traffic conditions at the end of the school day for all members of our community including parents, our teen drivers, and our staff members. With this consideration, our district will be making the following changes to tomorrow’s schedule:
Half-Day Schedule (Early Closure)
All SSD schools will follow a half-day schedule on Friday, January 12 (this is the same schedule that was used by our District on November 1). The release times for schools will be as follows:
- Elementary – 11:00am
- SMS – 11:57am
- SHS – 11:59am
Please note that some bus routes may run snow routes if necessary, and we will provide updates for those routes if this occurs. School lunches will not be served tomorrow.
Afternoon Activities/Events Are Canceled
All Friday afternoon and evening activities/events are canceled, including athletics events and practices. Champions after school programming will be canceled as well.
We will be closely monitoring weather forecasts in the coming days and providing ongoing updates as needed. For those families subscribed to our Flash Alert messaging, we encourage you to ensure your subscription settings are up-to-date and the Flash Alert mobile app is updated (if applicable). For more information on our inclement weather communications, please visit our website here.
Families can also use the Ride360 app for the most up-to-date snow route information from our Transportation Department; please click here for information about this app.
As an additional reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 15 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
Please stay safe and warm this weekend!
