Residency and New Construction vs. Property Ownership: Residency requires a physical dwelling with an assigned residential street address and available utility services. A student’s residence is determined by the house, apartment, or other dwelling where the student lives and sleeps the majority of their nights. For new construction, the new construction dwelling may be considered the student’s residence for enrollment purposes when the anticipated occupancy date is within 45 calendar days of the student’s requested start date. Families must provide documentation acceptable to the District verifying the anticipated occupancy date. Ownership of vacant land or property without a habitable dwelling does not establish residency for enrollment purposes.

McKinney-Vento Families: Families experiencing homelessness or temporary housing instability may enroll their student without traditional proof of residency. Please reach out to the district’s McKinney-Vento Liason for assistance. Contact Ursula Pinto at upinto@sherwood.k12.or.us or 503-825-5085.

If you are unable to provide two (2) items from the list above, additional options may be available. Contact Kami Golden at kgolden@sherwood.k12.or.us or 503-825-5011.
